This kit renews the bushings that hold the rear subframe of the 1989-1998 Nissan 240SX to the body. The subframe carries the rear suspension and differential, so soft mounts let the whole assembly shift under power and braking. Firm, fresh mounts help keep it planted, which suits street cars, drift builds and track-day 240SXs.

Factory rubber bushings soften and split with age, heat and oil. When that happens the arm they hold can shift a little every time you brake, accelerate or turn, and the result is vague steering, clunks over bumps and uneven tire wear. Renewing the bushing brings the arm back to a fixed pivot point.

Pressed-in bushings often need a hydraulic press or a shop with the right tools, so plan the job accordingly. It is good practice to tighten pivot bolts with the suspension at normal ride height rather than hanging, and to have the alignment checked once the work is done.

What else to plan for

  • An alignment after installing new arms or bushings.
  • Matching parts at the other end. Upgrading one side or one link and leaving worn parts elsewhere limits the improvement.
  • Install tools. Pressed-in bushings may need a press or a shop to fit them.
