Collection: Five8 Coilovers

Five8 Industries is a Los Angeles coilover brand, and this page lists the Five8 SS coilover kits we stock for Lexus and Toyota cars. Every kit has full-length ride height adjustment and monotube dampers, with prices from $697 to $768. Fitment covers the Lexus IS, GS, LS and CT200h, plus the Corolla, Camry, MR2, Celica, Prius, Sienna and GR86.

Who Five8 Industries is

Five8 Industries is a coilover brand based in Los Angeles, California, with its address in South El Monte. The company says its focus is comfort, competitive pricing and customer service for JDM, domestic and European cars, under the slogan "Ready. Set. Lower." Its main product is a coilover kit for street cars. Five8 also sells Swift springs, spring perches and other coilover accessories, but we only stock the coilover kits.

The brand is best known as an affordable way to lower a daily driver. Five8 designs its coilovers for balanced spring rates and predictable handling, not for maximum adjustability. If you want to set your ride height and get a firmer, flatter ride without spending track-coilover money, Five8 is built for that.

What is in a Five8 SS coilover kit

The kits on this page are all from Five8's SS coilover line. Five8 lists the same core hardware across the range:

  • Full-length ride height adjustment, so you lower the car by moving the lower mount instead of compressing the spring
  • Monotube damper with a seamless 52mm electroplated carbon steel body
  • 20mm piston rod on MacPherson strut fronts and 14mm on other designs, with a 44mm CNC aluminum piston
  • SAE9254 cold-wound springs and a low gas pressure design
  • Fixed damping: Five8 says the valving is matched to each platform, so there are no damping knobs to adjust

Fixed damping is the biggest thing to understand before you buy. It keeps setup simple, but you cannot soften the ride for a long trip or firm it up for a track day. If you want that, look at a damping-adjustable kit (see the comparison below).

Fitment and spring rates

We stock 25 Five8 kits for Lexus and Toyota. Spring rates come from Five8's product pages and are in kg/mm, front then rear.

Five8 makes kits for many more makes than we list here, including Honda, Nissan, Subaru and BMW. For now our Five8 stock is Lexus and Toyota only.

How to choose the right Five8 kit

Match the chassis code and trim exactly

Five8 has one main coilover line, so choosing comes down to fitment. Read the title closely. The Camry kits exclude the SE and XSE trims, the 2013+ GS kit is for RWD cars with the fork-type front lower mount, and the Previa kit is 2WD only. If your car has adaptive or electronic dampers, check the listing before you order.

Look at the spring rates

Spring rate tells you how firm the car will feel. The rear-drive Lexus sedans get the stiffest springs on this page (10K to 12K front), while the CT200h, Corolla, C-HR and Prius kits sit at 5K to 8K. A 6K front spring on an economy car feels firmer than stock but still livable every day. Our spring rate guide and spring rate calculator explain what the numbers mean.

Decide how low you want to go

Full-length adjustment lets you set the height without losing much shock travel, but going very low still costs ride quality and tire clearance. Plan your wheel and tire sizes with the wheel offset calculator before you drop the car.

Five8 vs alternatives we carry

Godspeed is the most common alternative. Its Lexus IS coilovers on our store run from $750 to $1,100, including MonoSS and MAXX kits, so check each listing for the damping adjustment you want. Megan Racing EZII kits for the Lexus IS cost $799 to $849, and at least one is listed as 15-way adjustable. Choose Five8 if you want a simple kit at a lower price and are happy with fixed damping. Choose Godspeed or Megan if you want to tune the ride. Our BC Racing vs Godspeed and cheap coilovers guides compare more brands.

What else you'll need

  • A four-wheel alignment after install, because lowering changes camber and toe
  • Camber adjustment if you go very low, since many lowered cars end up with too much negative camber
  • Adjustable sway bar end links on cars that sit much lower than stock
  • A spanner wrench for height changes later

Install notes and costs

A coilover swap is a bolt-in job on most of these cars. A confident home mechanic with a lift, impact tools and a torque wrench can usually do it in an afternoon. A shop will typically charge for a few hours of labor plus an alignment. Set the ride height before the alignment, let the car settle for a few days, then recheck the height. Our coilover adjustment guide covers the process step by step.

All Five8 kits on our store cost $697 to $768. That puts them below most damping-adjustable kits for the same cars, which is why Five8 is a common choice for a first coilover setup.
