Who A'PEXi is
A'PEXi is a Japanese tuning brand, sold in the US through A'PEXi USA in Orange, California, whose site groups it under "Genuine Japanese Brands". On the suspension side, its N1 damper line is what we carry: two N1 coilover series, pillowball upper mounts and the small service parts that go with them.
A'PEXi's coilover range centers on the cars that made the JDM tuning scene: S-chassis Nissans, Skylines, RX-7s, Evos, WRX and STI, Integras and Civics, plus newer cars like the FR-S/BRZ and 10th-gen Civic hatchback.

N1 Type ExV vs N1 Evolution
This is the main choice on this page, and the gap is big: an ExV kit costs $1,099 to $1,359, while an Evolution kit costs $2,399 to $3,299.
N1 Type ExV
A'PEXi USA's page for the FR-S/BRZ kit lists 32-way damping, a monotube body and a threaded base, so ride height changes without giving up shock or spring travel. It says the ExV was designed for US-market cars, with internals meant to handle harsher roads and spring rates and valving set for ride quality as well as sporty driving. That FR-S/BRZ kit uses a pillowball front mount, a rubber rear mount and a front camber plate, with 6K springs front and rear. The ExV is the pick for a street car that sees the odd track day.
N1 Evolution
The Evolution is A'PEXi's more serious kit. Its 350Z page lists 25-step damping, a 46 mm piston in a zinc-plated steel monotube body, a resin-bonded piston that the page says keeps damping linear up to about 1.5 m/s, and dedicated N1 damper fluid meant to resist heat fade. It uses pillowball upper mounts with a CNC-machined duralumin plate, and on the 350Z kit the springs are 10K front and 8K rear with full-length height adjustment (+5 to -80 mm front, -15 to -70 mm rear). A'PEXi also offers overhaul and re-valving services for N1 dampers. Pick the Evolution for a car that spends real time on track, or a build where you want rebuildable dampers for the long haul.
Upper mounts
The pillowball mounts sharpen steering feel compared with rubber mounts, at the cost of more noise and vibration in the cabin. Several are sold front or rear only, such as the FD RX-7 and S13 rear mounts, so check the position in the title before ordering.

Install notes
An N1 kit is a full coilover swap, so plan on most of a day in a home garage with jack stands and hand tools, or book a shop. Strut-type cars are usually quicker than double wishbone cars, where the lower mounts can be tight to reach. Set the ride height on the bench to roughly match stock before install, settle the car on the ground, then fine-tune height and damping. Our guide to adjusting coilovers walks through preload, height and damping in order.
What else you'll need
- An alignment after install, plus corner balancing if the car is going on track.
- Camber parts for big drops. See camber plates and alignment and camber kits.
- A spanner wrench for ride height changes; replacements are on this page from $10.
A'PEXi compared with alternatives we carry
HKS is the other big Japanese name on our store, with 189 listings. Its Hipermax full kits on our store run from about $1,245 to $3,900, so it lines up with both A'PEXi series and covers more recent cars. KW sits higher, with kits from $1,363.99 to $6,884.99. If budget matters more than the badge, Godspeed coilovers cost far less. Our best coilovers guide compares them by how you drive.
Warranty terms are set by each brand.
