Who Tuff Country is
Tuff Country, which also trades as Tuff Country EZ-Ride Suspension, makes lift and leveling kits for 4WD trucks, Jeeps, SUVs and crossovers. The company opened in 1988 and grew from a 1,000 square foot shop to a 53,000 square foot facility at the base of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah. It tests parts on Wasatch and Moab trails and says its products are made in the USA. Daystar Products International bought Tuff Country in 2019.
Tuff Country is best known for budget-friendly, American made lift and leveling kits. Besides complete kits, it sells the parts inside them: leaf springs, blocks, shocks, steering stabilizers and end links. Note that the old tuffcountry.com address no longer shows the brand's catalog, so the facts above come from industry sources listed at the end.

How to choose between Tuff Country lines
Leveling kit or lift?
A leveling kit raises the front about 2 inches so the truck sits flat. That's enough for a slightly bigger tire, for example up to 32 inches tall and 10.5 inches wide on the GM EZ-Install kit. A lift raises both ends, needs more parts and costs more. Our leveling kits page has other brands to compare.
EZ-Install vs standard leveling kits
The EZ-Install kit we list mounts on the bottom of the factory strut, which keeps the job simple. Standard spacer kits sit on top of the strut, so the strut has to come out of the truck to fit them.
Leaf springs or blocks?
Lift blocks are the cheap way to raise the rear of a leaf sprung truck. EZ-Ride lifted leaf springs cost more but replace a tired spring pack at the same time, and they don't add the leverage that tall blocks do. On an old truck with sagging springs, new leaves are the better fix. Note that most EZ-Ride springs are sold one each, so you need two. See leaf springs for more options.
SX8000 vs SX6000 shocks
Both are made for lifted trucks and listed by lift range, from 0 to 2 inches up to 8 inches. SX8000 is a gas charged twin tube shock. SX6000 is a cellular foam shock. Prices are almost the same, so choose by the length and lift range your truck needs. Check the extended and collapsed lengths on each listing.
Install notes
- Leveling kits are a driveway job with basic tools and jack stands. Top-of-strut spacer kits take longer because the strut has to come out.
- Many installers fit new U-bolts when they change blocks or leaf springs.
- Lifted trucks often need longer end links. Tuff Country's end links suit its 4 to 6 inch kits.
- Get an alignment after any lift or level.
Tuff Country vs other lift brands we carry
Rough Country is the other budget lift brand. Our Rough Country range is small too, so compare part by part. Skyjacker offers more complete lift kits and a wider shock range. Tuff Country makes the most sense for classic GM squarebodies, Jeeps and leveling a newer half ton on a budget.
Costs
On our store a Tuff Country leveling kit or spacer set costs $128.99 to $183.99, and the Ford kit with shocks costs $501.99. Lift blocks run $89.99 to $236.99 and shocks $87.99 to $97.99 each. EZ-Ride springs cost $112.99 to $669.99 each. Add an alignment. Warranty terms are set by each brand.
