Rough Country 3.5 inch lift kit for the 2019 and newer Ram 1500

Ram 1500 Lift Kits: 2 to 8 Inches, Explained

Ram 1500 lift kits come in four steps: a 2-inch leveling kit, a 3 to 3.5 inch strut-based lift, a spring and shock or coilover system like Eibach Pro-Truck, and a 6 to 9 inch drop-bracket kit with new spindles and crossmembers. The right one depends on your generation, whether you have air suspension, and how big a tire you want.

On our store, Ram 1500 leveling kits cost $29.95 to $462, and complete lift kits run from $549.95 for a 3-inch kit to $4,137 for a 6 to 8 inch Belltech coilover system. Shop all Ram 1500 lift and leveling kits.

Know your generation first

Most fitment mistakes on the Ram 1500 come from mixing up the body styles. Check your model year, cab, 2WD or 4WD, and whether the truck has air suspension.

Years Generation What to look for in a listing
2002-2005 4WD Older torsion bar trucks Level with torsion keys, such as Belltech's 1 to 3 inch key
2009-2018 4th (DS), rear coil springs Listings say 09-18, 11-18, 12-18 or 15-18
2019-2024 Classic 4th-gen body sold alongside the new truck Uses DS parts, not 2019+ parts
2019 and up 5th (DT) Listings often say "non-Classic" or "exc. Classic Body"
2021 and up TRX, 2025 and up RHO Performance trims Need their own kits, such as Eibach's TRX and RHO Pro-Truck kits

Trucks with factory air suspension need parts made for the air system. Standard spacer kits are for coil-spring trucks.

Ram 1500 lift options compared

Type Typical lift Price on our store Tires Install
Leveling kit 1.5 to 2.5 in front $29.95 to $462 About one size bigger A few hours
3 to 3.5 in lift 3 to 3.5 in $549.95 to $679.95 Commonly 33 to 35 in Half a day or more
Spring, shock or coilover system Up to about 2.7 in front and 1.5 in rear $1,125 to $1,799 Depends on wheel offset Half a day or more
6 to 9 in drop-bracket lift 6 to 8 in front, 4 in rear (Belltech) $2,595 to $4,137 Up to 37 in (Belltech rating) A full day, usually at a shop

Tire ranges are typical, not guaranteed. Wheel width, offset and trimming change what fits.

Leveling kits (about 2 inches)

A leveling kit raises the front so the truck sits flat instead of nose-down. It is the cheapest way to clear a slightly bigger tire. On our store:

3 to 3.5 inch lifts

These raise both ends, typically with taller front struts or spacers and rear spacers or springs. Rough Country lists a 3 inch kit for 2012-2018 4WD trucks at $549.95 and a 3.5 inch kit for 2019-2024 2WD and 4WD trucks at $679.95. This is the most popular step for owners who want 33 to 35 inch tires without moving the front differential.

Spring, shock and coilover systems

Eibach's Pro-Truck kits replace the springs and shocks, or fit adjustable front coilovers with matched rear shocks. The lift is modest, but the ride is controlled and the geometry stays close to stock. On our store, individual front or rear Pro-Truck spring kits start at $275, complete spring systems cost $1,125, Stage 2 coilover systems cost $1,565, and Stage 2R systems with reservoir rear shocks cost $1,799.

Eibach lists its 2025 Ram 1500 Stage 2R at 0 to 2.5 inches front and 1 inch rear on the Crew Cab, and 0 to 2 inches front on the Rebel and Warlock. Eibach also notes that exact lift varies by package and vehicle weight, and warns against going past the maximum listed height. Carli lists multi-rate rear coil springs for 2019-2023 trucks with half an inch of lift at $408.24 for owners who carry weight often.

6 to 9 inch lifts

Big lifts drop the front suspension instead of just stretching it, so the CV axles and steering keep a usable angle. Belltech's 6 to 8 inch kit for 2019+ 4WD trucks includes new spindles, a front differential drop bracket, high-clearance crossmembers, alignment cam bolts and a driveshaft spacer. At the rear it adds new coil springs, shocks, extended sway bar links, a track bar bracket and brake line brackets. Belltech rates it for 4 inches of rear lift and up to 37 inch tires on 5 inch backspacing, and says trimming may be needed.

Fitment is strict. Belltech's 4WD kit excludes the Classic body, eTorque trucks and trucks with factory 22 inch wheels. On our store, Belltech 6 to 9 inch Ram 1500 kits cost $2,595 to $4,137 depending on shocks, coilovers and sway bars.

Install time and difficulty

A spacer leveling kit is a few hours for someone comfortable removing front struts. A 3.5 inch kit with rear parts takes longer, often half a day or more. A 6 to 9 inch kit involves removing the front differential and crossmembers, so plan on a full day at a shop. AmericanTrucks puts most lift installs at 4 to 8 hours or more, with a full 6 inch build taking about a day.

What else you'll need

What it really costs

The kit is only part of the bill. A leveling kit plus an alignment is the cheapest route. A 3.5 inch lift usually means new tires, and often wheels. A 6 inch or bigger lift adds shop labor for a day, bigger tires and wheels, an alignment and sometimes regearing. Get a full quote before you order the kit.

Common mistakes

  • Buying 2019+ parts for a Classic. The Classic is the older truck. Use 2009-2018 style parts.
  • Ignoring air suspension. Coil-spring kits do not fit air-suspension trucks.
  • Going past the rated height. Over-extending spacers or coilovers tops out the suspension and ruins the ride.
  • Skipping the alignment or leaving stock-length end links on a big lift.

FAQ

What is the best lift for a daily-driven Ram 1500?

For most owners, a leveling kit or a spring and shock system like Eibach Pro-Truck. Bigger lifts change the ride, fuel use and handling more.

Can I lift a Ram 1500 with air suspension?

Yes, but you need a kit made for the air system. Standard spacer kits are for coil-spring trucks.

Do 2019+ Ram 1500 kits fit the Ram 1500 Classic?

No. The Classic is the previous-generation truck, so it uses 2009-2018 style parts.

What size tires fit a 6 inch lifted Ram 1500?

Belltech rates its 6 to 8 inch kit for up to 37 inch tires on 5 inch backspacing wheels, with trimming possibly needed.

Do I need an alignment after lifting a Ram 1500?

Yes. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe, so align it after the install.
