Chevy Silverado Leveling Kits

This page covers over 30 leveling kits for the Chevy Silverado, most of them also listed for the GMC Sierra. Cognito makes up the bulk of the range, alongside Air Lift, Skyjacker, Ridetech, Rancho and Body Armor, with options for both half-ton 1500 trucks and 2500/3500 HD trucks.

Which generation do you have?

  • 1999-2006 Silverado 1500 and 2001-2007 HD (including 2007 Classic)
  • 2007-2013 Silverado 1500 and 2011-2019 2500/3500 HD
  • 2014-2018 Silverado 1500
  • 2019-2024 Silverado 1500, including the Trail Boss
  • 2020-2025 Silverado 2500/3500 HD

Half-ton and HD kits are not interchangeable, and some kits are 4WD only, so match the exact years, drivetrain and cab or bed on each listing.

How to choose

First, know which front suspension you have. Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD trucks use torsion bars, and most HD leveling kits, such as the Cognito economy and standard kits, use new torsion keys to raise the front 2 to 3 inches. Cranking a torsion bar up reduces down-travel, so the performance kits with 2.0 IFP shocks are worth a look if you want the ride to stay controlled.

Most 2007 and newer 1500 trucks use front coilover struts, so leveling comes from a strut spacer or a spring preload kit, like the Body Armor 2 inch spacer or the Rancho Level-it-System. A 1 inch kit, such as the Cognito 1 inch for 2019-2024 4WD trucks, simply removes the factory rake, while 3 inch kits leave room for a larger tire.

The Air Lift LoadLifter and Ridetech Air Assist kits work at the rear. They keep a loaded truck level, and the Ridetech kits are meant for trucks already running a lowering system.

Price range

Entry kits start around $40, a typical kit is about $530, and kits with shocks or air springs reach about $1,800.

FAQ

Can I level a Silverado Trail Boss?

The Trail Boss already sits higher from the factory, so only use a kit that lists the Trail Boss by name. On this page that includes the Air Lift LoadLifter rear kits for 2019 Trail Boss trucks.

Do torsion key kits need an alignment?

Yes. Changing torsion bar preload changes ride height, camber and toe, so align the truck after install.
