Collection: Old Man Emu Suspension

Old Man Emu is ARB's Australian-developed 4x4 suspension range, and this page lists the OME parts we stock: BP-51 bypass coilovers and shocks, Nitrocharger struts and shocks, lift coil springs, steering stabilizers and bushings. Prices run from $107.99 to $1,086.99, mostly for Toyota trucks and SUVs, with a few Jeep, Land Rover and Suzuki parts.

Who Old Man Emu is

Old Man Emu (OME) is the suspension brand of ARB, the Australian 4x4 accessory company. ARB says OME suspension is developed and tested in Australia for ride, handling and load-carrying capability, and that its systems are vehicle-specific, built for corrugated roads, towing and heavy loads. OME is best known for matched spring and shock packages for touring rigs, and for the BP-51, a bypass shock with external adjusters.

Our OME range is small right now: 16 live listings. It covers the main OME product types, but not every vehicle, so check the part number against your truck before you order.

Fitment coverage

Most of our OME listings are for Toyotas. The BP-51 front coilovers cover the 2024+ Tacoma and the Prado 250. The Nitrocharger Plus struts cover the 2007-2013 Tundra and the Prado 90, and the 93004 listing also lists 1996-2002 4Runner and 1998-2004 Tacoma trims. Other makes are limited to one rear shock for the Jeep Cherokee XJ, front springs for 1999-2004 Land Rover models and a 1.25 in front spring pair for Suzuki. Some listings give only a part number, so check fitment with the part number before you buy.

How to choose between OME lines

BP-51 vs Nitrocharger

The BP-51 is OME's premium damper. ARB describes it as a position-sensitive internal bypass shock that stays soft in the normal ride zone and firms up near the ends of travel to resist bottoming and topping out, with external rebound and compression adjusters. Our BP5190026R listing describes it as a monotube with 10 valving selections. Pick the BP-51 if you carry heavy loads, drive fast on dirt or want to tune the ride.

Nitrocharger shocks and struts are the simpler, cheaper option. They are a good fit for a mild lift on a daily-driven truck where you want a fresh, firmer damper without adjusters. Our Nitrocharger Plus struts are twin-tube designs with a 5-position height setting.

Springs and stabilizers

OME springs are rated by lift height. Read the notes: the 2794 Toyota pair is listed as not compatible with third-row seating models. A steering stabilizer helps control shimmy on lifted trucks with bigger tires, but it will not fix worn steering parts.

What else you'll need

Plan an alignment after any lift. Taller front coilovers change caster and can add bump steer, so check your sway bar end links and bump stops too. BP-51 coilovers are sold per side here, so order both a left and a right.

OME vs alternatives we carry

ICON Vehicle Dynamics is the closest match to the BP-51. Our ICON listings run from 2.0 VS IR shocks at $260.99 to 2.5 RR CDEV coilover kits at $3,499.99, with more reservoir options for US trucks. Bilstein 5100 shocks, from $123.00 on our store, are a lower-cost alternative to Nitrocharger for a mild lift. Our Fox vs Bilstein guide compares the other big names.
