Lift kits for trucks: how to choose
Start with three questions: how much height you want, what tire size you want to run, and how the truck gets used. A daily driver that needs to clear a 33-inch tire is a very different job from a trail truck on 35s that tows on weekends. Answer those first and the list of truck lift kits that fit your truck gets short fast.
Then match the listing to your truck exactly. Every kit names the model years, cab, bed length and drivetrain it was built for, and many also call out trims (TRX, Rebel, ZR2, Trail Boss, Rubicon) or factory air suspension. A kit for a 2WD truck will not fit the 4WD version, and a 2019+ Ram 1500 kit is not the same as one for the Ram 1500 Classic.
- 1 to 2.5 inches up front only: that is a leveling kit, not a lift. It removes the factory rake. Shop our leveling kits page for those.
- 2 to 3.5 inches at both ends: a spacer, spring or lift coilover kit. Most bolt to factory mounting points.
- 4 inches and up: a full suspension lift with drop brackets or new knuckles, longer shocks and often new sway bar links and brake lines.
Use our tire size calculator to see how much taller a new tire is, and the ride height and wheel fitment calculator to check how lift height, wheel offset and tire width work together.
Lift kit types compared
A spacer kit keeps your factory springs and shocks and adds height with a block of metal or poly. Rancho puts typical spacer lifts at 1 to 2.75 inches and full suspension lifts at about 3 to 6 inches. Here is what each type costs on our store right now:
| Type | Typical lift | What it replaces or adds | Price on our store |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spacer lift kit | 2 to 2.5 in, both ends | Strut and coil spacers, rear blocks | Body Armor JL 2.5 in $230, TeraFlex Cherokee 2 in $109.99 to $222.99, BDS Ranger 2.5 in $303.99 |
| Lift springs and spacer kits | 1.5 to 3.5 in | Taller coil springs, strut spacers, rear spacers or blocks | Eibach Pro-Truck $275 to $1,822.99, Rough Country 3 to 3.5 in $549.95 to $1,119.95, TeraFlex JL 3.5 in $839.99 |
| Lift coilover and shock systems | Adjustable, up to about 3 in | Complete coilovers or ride-height-adjustable shocks | Bilstein 6112 Tundra front kit $977, Eibach Pro-Truck coilover systems $1,565 to $1,822.99 |
| Rear lift blocks and shackles | 1 to 8 in, rear | Block between leaf spring and axle, or longer shackle | $64 to $302.99 (Superlift, BDS, Tuff Country, Apoc Industries, Skyjacker) |
| Spring and shock suspension systems | 2 to 3.5 in, both ends | New coil springs, often matched shocks, links or brackets | Rancho Wrangler kits RS66142BK $613.99 (shocks separate) and RS66121BR9 $1,055.99 (with RS9000XL shocks) |
| Suspension lift with drop brackets | 4 to 9 in | Crossmember or knuckle drop, longer shocks, links | Belltech 4 in Silverado kit $1,333.99, Rough Country 6 in Gladiator $2,481.99, Belltech 6 to 9 in kits listed to $4,588 |
| Performance coilover and bypass systems | 2 to 5.5 in | Remote-reservoir coilovers, shocks, often arms | Carli shock packages $779.28 to $883.64, full Carli systems listed to $8,315 |
| Body lift | About 3 in | Pucks between body and frame, suspension unchanged | $223.99 to $526.99 |
A body lift makes room for tires without changing suspension geometry, but it adds no ground clearance under the frame or axles. A suspension lift adds real clearance and changes how the truck rides and handles, so it needs more supporting parts.

| 3 to 3.5 inch lift kit | The most common bolt-on lift for a bigger tire and a level stance | Rough Country 3 in Ram 1500 (2012-2018) $549.95, 3.5 in Ram 1500 (2019-2024) $679.95, ReadyLIFT 3.0 SST $500.99 |
| 4 inch lift kit | Bigger tires and trail clearance; often new knuckles or brackets | Belltech 150212TP 4 in kit $1,333.99, Zone Offroad 4 in front struts $230.99 each |

| 6 to 9 inch lift | Show trucks and the biggest tires | Belltech 6 to 9 in kits for Ram 1500, F-150 and Silverado listed at $2,595 to $4,588 |
Strut assemblies sold "each" are a front-end part of a lift, not a complete kit, so check what else your build needs.

Brands we carry
Each brand leans toward a different kind of build. Belltech has the most listings here, from Trail Performance shocks to complete 6 to 9 inch kits, though many show as sold out, so check the listing. Bilstein covers 5100, 6112 and 8100 shocks and coilovers sold by lift height; see Bilstein 5100 shocks. Skyjacker lists 47 kits and components, including long travel Jeep kits. Eibach Pro-Truck kits pair lift springs with matched shocks, mostly for the Ram 1500. Carli builds premium coils and shock packages for Ram and Ford Super Duty trucks; browse Carli Suspension. Rough Country covers budget 2.5 to 6 inch kits, and BDS, Superlift, ReadyLIFT, Tuff Country and Zone Offroad fill in blocks, component boxes and bolt-on lifts. Rancho adds quickLIFT loaded struts ($274.99 to $305.99), the RS66350R5 Level It kit for 2001 to 2010 Silverado and Sierra HD trucks ($324.99) and complete suspension kits for the Jeep Wrangler and Silverado 1500; see Rancho.
What else you'll need
A lift changes more than ride height. Check each listing's notes, because some kits include these parts and some do not.
- Alignment: always, after any front lift. Camber and toe move as soon as the front rises.
- Shocks: lifts of 2 inches or more often need longer shocks, especially at the rear. Bilstein and Old Man Emu shocks are sold by lift height.
- Upper control arms: on many independent front suspension trucks, bigger lifts push the upper ball joint toward its limit. Aftermarket upper control arms restore caster and camber range.
- End links, track bars and bump stops: longer sway bar end links keep the bar at its proper angle, an adjustable track bar re-centers a solid axle, and extended bump stops stop the suspension hitting its limits.
- Driveline and brakes: big lifts can need carrier bearing shims, longer brake lines and speedometer recalibration for taller tires.
Install notes
Spacer kits are the easiest job, and most owners with a spring compressor or a shop that can swap struts finish in an afternoon. Lift springs and spacer kits take a full day. Kits with drop brackets, new knuckles or cut crossmembers are a shop job for most people and can take one to two days. Torque every fastener to the kit's instructions with the truck at ride height, re-check them after the first few drives, and book the alignment for right after install.
How much is a truck lift kit?
On our store, spacer lifts start around $100, 3 to 3.5 inch bolt-on kits run about $500 to $1,120, and 6 inch and taller kits cost $2,481.99 and up. Premium coilover and bypass systems from Carli go well past that. Add installation, an alignment, plus wheels and tires if you are going up a size.
