Charger and Challenger fitment at a glance

The modern Charger and Challenger share one rear-drive platform, but the parts are listed by chassis code. Our catalog uses four codes: LX for the 2005-2010 Charger, LD for the 2011-2023 Charger, LC for the 2008-2014 Challenger and LA for the 2015-2023 Challenger. Match the code and years in the product title before you order. The new 2024+ Charger is a different car, and nothing here is listed for it.

Some kits cover more than one code. The Megan Racing EZII kit is listed for 2011-2021 Charger and Challenger, and the Eibach Drag-Launch Competition springs cover 2005-2023 Charger, Challenger and 300. The Chrysler 300 shares many parts, so see our Chrysler 300 suspension page and the Charger and Magnum LX page too.

Coilovers vs lowering springs on a Charger or Challenger

These are heavy cars, and that shapes the choice. Lowering springs keep your factory shocks and drop the car a fixed amount. Coilovers replace the springs and shocks and let you set the height and damping yourself.

OptionWhat you getPrice on our storeBest for
Lowering springsFixed drop on stock dampers. Megan Racing lists 49 mm front and 54 mm rear for the V6 Challenger set.$200 to $395Daily drivers that want a lower stance and less nose lift
Spring and bar kitEibach Pro-Plus: springs plus anti-roll bars for 2015-2023 Scat Pack and Hellcat$963Flatter cornering without changing dampers
CoiloversHeight and damping adjustable. Megan Racing kits are monotube with 15-way damping.$750 to $1,095 (most)Owners who want to tune height, rake and firmness
Air strutsRide height changes from a switch or app$1,277.50 to $1,795Show cars and low builds that still need to clear driveways

For drag racing, Eibach sells Drag-Launch springs ($355 to $395) which Eibach says are made to improve weight transfer and give harder, more consistent launches. For road course or autocross use, SF Racing Track coilovers ($1,095) and the Megan Racing kits give you damping adjustment that springs cannot. Our coilovers vs lowering springs guide covers the trade-offs in more detail, and how much it costs to lower a car adds labor and alignment to the parts price.

What else a lowered Charger or Challenger needs

Dropping the car changes camber and toe at both ends, and camber is usually the first thing to go out of spec. AmericanMuscle notes that 2008-2018 Challengers have no factory camber adjustment, so even a mild drop can call for camber parts. These are the parts we list:

  • Rear camber: Eibach Pro-Alignment rear camber kit ($139), the Whiteline rear camber correction bushing kit ($130.39) and the Megan Racing rear upper camber arm ($285).
  • Rear toe and tension: Godspeed adjustable rear tension arms ($250) for the Charger LX/LD and the Challenger LC/LA.
  • Front camber: Godspeed front upper camber arms with ball joints ($300, Charger AWD and RWD, and Challenger) or the Megan Racing front upper camber kit ($300).
  • End links: lowering changes sway bar preload. Godspeed front adjustable end links cost $120, and Eibach front and rear adjustable end link systems cost $189 each. Read when you need adjustable end links.
  • Sway bars: Eibach anti-roll kits run $269 to $568 and Belltech sets $287 to $534.
  • Jacking: a low car may not clear a floor jack. SLR low-profile race ramps cost $72.45.

Platform quirks to check before you order

RWD vs AWD

Every coilover kit on this page is listed for RWD cars, and the Air Lift kits say "No AWD". If you have an AWD Charger, check the listing closely. Some alignment parts, like the Godspeed front upper arms, list both AWD and RWD.

Nivomat rear shocks

Several Godspeed Traction-S spring sets are listed for cars "without Nivomat". Some cars came with Nivomat self-leveling rear shocks, so check your rear shocks before you buy springs made for cars without them.

Adaptive damping

Some high-trim cars came with electronically adjustable dampers. For example, the 2020 Charger Hellcat Widebody launched with Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping. If your car has it, coilovers replace those dampers, so confirm the kit covers your trim and ask the brand how the car's damping system is handled.

V6 vs V8 springs

Spring sets are split by engine because the nose weight is different. Godspeed lists separate V6, R/T, V8 and SRT sets, and the Megan Racing Challenger set is for the RWD V6 only.

Install and alignment notes

Springs and coilovers take about the same time on these cars, because the struts and rear shocks come out either way. A shop can do it in a day. If you do it yourself, use a proper spring compressor for springs, and set coilover height on the car with a tape measure at both ends. Plan on a full alignment right after, and again if you change height later. Use our ride height and wheel fitment calculator before you go low with wide wheels, and check wheel offset on a lowered car.

Dodge Charger & Challenger Coilovers & Suspension FAQ

Do Charger coilovers fit the Challenger?
Usually not, because most kits are listed by chassis code: LX and LD for the Charger, LC and LA for the Challenger. A few kits, such as the Megan Racing EZII set for 2011-2021, cover both, so check the title before you order.
Should I get coilovers or lowering springs for my Challenger?
Lowering springs ($200 to $395 here) suit a daily driver that wants a lower stance on stock shocks. Coilovers (most $750 to $1,095) let you set height and damping, which suits track use or owners who want to tune the car.
Do coilovers fit an AWD Charger?
The coilover kits on this page are listed for RWD cars, and the Air Lift kits say they do not fit AWD. Some alignment parts, like the Godspeed front upper camber arms, list both AWD and RWD.
What is Nivomat and does it matter for lowering springs?
Nivomat is a self-leveling rear shock fitted to some cars. Several spring sets are listed for cars without Nivomat, so check your rear shocks before you buy.
Do I need camber parts after lowering a Challenger?
Often, yes. Many Challengers have little or no factory camber adjustment, so a drop can leave camber out of spec. Rear camber kits on our store start at $139.
How much does it cost to lower a Charger or Challenger?
Parts on our store run $200 to $395 for springs, $750 to $1,095 for most coilovers and $1,277.50 to $1,795 for air. Add labor at a shop and a full alignment.
