Who Body Armor 4x4 is
Body Armor 4x4 is an off-road parts brand. Its website lists front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, doors, racks, tire carriers, lighting, recovery gear and overland gear, plus a suspension section of leveling kits. The vehicles it covers are Toyota, Jeep, Subaru, Chevrolet, Dodge Ram, Ford, GMC and Nissan, and the company says it aims to bring quality, functional 4x4 products at prices that suit the whole 4x4 market.
On Lower HQ we carry Body Armor's suspension side: simple leveling parts that raise the front of a truck or SUV, and lift kits for Subaru crossovers. These are spacers, keys and blocks, not full lift kits, which keeps the price low and the install short.

How to choose between Body Armor's lines
The right part depends on what your truck uses for front springs, not on how much lift you want.
Strut spacers: IFS trucks with coilover struts
Most modern half-ton trucks and midsize pickups use a coil spring wrapped around the front strut. A strut spacer bolts on top of that assembly and raises the front by the spacer's height, typically 2 to 3 inches here. It is the cheapest way to level, and the ride stays close to stock because the spring and shock don't change. Prices run from $40 for the 2007-up GM 1500 2 inch spacer (50209-GM) to $127 for the 2015-up 4Runner or 3 inch F-150 spacer.
Coil spacers: solid axles and coil-spring fronts
Jeep Wranglers, Ram 2500/3500 and Ford Super Duty trucks have a separate coil spring and shock. A coil spacer sits on the spring perch to add height, and kits like the 2.0 inch Ram 2500/3500 (50208-DG, $156) include shock extensions so the shock keeps its travel. For Jeeps, choose a front-only spacer to fix rake, or a front and rear kit such as the 2.5 inch JK kit ($144) or JL kit ($230) for a small lift all round.
Torsion keys: torsion bar trucks
Older GM trucks, 2002 to 2005 Ram 1500 4WD, the 1998 to 2009 Ranger and the 2004 to 2012 Colorado and Canyon use torsion bars. A new key lets you set 1 to 3 inches of front lift by turning the adjuster bolt. The kits for GM HD trucks include shock extenders. Keys add preload rather than height to the spring, so the ride can feel firmer, and too much lift can leave the front sitting on the droop stops.
Blocks: the rear
The 1 inch block and U-bolt kits raise the rear of a leaf-spring truck. Pair one with a front spacer when you want a small lift and to keep a little rake for towing.

What else you'll need
- An alignment after any front lift. Camber and caster move as the front rises, and big leveling jobs may need adjustable upper arms.
- Bigger tires? Check clearance with our tire size calculator before you buy.
- Longer sway bar end links on some coil spacer setups.
