SPF1321K is a SuperPro front trunnion bushing kit for the Triumph Spitfire. The trunnion is the pivot at the base of the front upright, and wear there makes the steering vague and the front end noisy. Renewing it is a core job on any Spitfire restoration or a car that still sees regular weekend miles.

Bushings isolate the body from the suspension while keeping each component lined up. When they age out, the wheel can steer itself slightly over bumps and under load. New bushings cut down that unwanted movement, which helps tire wear and makes the car easier to place on the road.

Replacing parts in pairs, left and right, keeps the car behaving the same in both directions. Take a few photos before disassembly so the orientation of each part is clear on reassembly, and book an alignment if any arm or mount has been removed.

Before you order: Triumph Spitfire fitment and setup

If the car feels loose, clunks over bumps or wanders under braking, tired bushings are a common cause on a Triumph Spitfire with some age on it.

Plan the whole job

  • An alignment after installing new arms or bushings.
  • Matching parts at the other end. Upgrading one side or one link and leaving worn parts elsewhere limits the improvement.
  • Install tools. Pressed-in bushings may need a press or a shop to fit them.
