This is the SuperPro Rear Trailing Arm Bushing Kit for the 1979-1985 Mazda RX-7, 1971-1974 RX-2 and 1979-1980 Mazda 626. Trailing arm bushings locate the rear wheels front to back, and when they wear the rear end can steer itself slightly under braking or over bumps. It suits street cars and anyone restoring a car whose rear end feels vague.

Factory rubber bushings are tuned for comfort, and over time heat, oil and age make them crack, sag and tear. Once that happens the arm or component they hold can move around more than the engineers intended, which shows up as clunks, vague steering, uneven tire wear or a car that feels loose over rough roads.

Install notes

These bushings press into their housings, so you may need a hydraulic press, or a shop with one, to fit them. A wheel alignment afterwards is a good idea when you replace locating bushings.

Parts that usually go with it

  • An alignment after installing new arms or bushings.
  • Matching parts at the other end. Upgrading one side or one link and leaving worn parts elsewhere limits the improvement.
  • Install tools. Pressed-in bushings may need a press or a shop to fit them.
