Introducing the SLR Drift Spec BOSS Coilovers - our toughest, most aggressive Drift Spec coilover yet.

Released in January 2026, the BOSS was built for drivers who are hard on equipment. Dirt drops, violent transitions, curb hits, jumps, rough tracks, off-track excursions, and the kind of abuse that quickly exposes weak suspension components - this is exactly what the BOSS was designed for.

Everything about the BOSS is intentionally rugged and overbuilt, from its heavy-duty construction to its thick powder-coated finish. This is not a delicate street coilover dressed up for drifting. It is a purpose-built drift suspension designed around strength, durability, predictable handling, and surviving real-world motorsport abuse.

Backed by nearly two decades of SLRspeed suspension engineering and our experience producing high-performance coilover systems through VVK, the BOSS combines serious damper performance with the durability demanded by modern drifting.

E90 BOSS Spring Rates & Valving

Spring Rates:
10k/11k (Spring in Bucket)
10k/6k (True Rear Coilover)
Drift Valving with Race Oil
Valving: SLR Drift Valving
Damper Fluid: High-Performance Race Oil

BOSS Features

  • Ultra-Rugged Heavy-Duty Construction: Built specifically for aggressive drifting, rough surfaces, dirt drops, jumps, impacts, and repeated motorsport abuse.
  • Thick Powder-Coated Finish: A durable, aggressive finish designed to stand up to the dirt, debris, moisture, and punishment of real drift cars.
  • Heavy Zinc-Plated Damper Tubes: Most BOSS applications feature heavy zinc-plated damper tubes for added corrosion resistance and long-term durability. (Finish may vary by application.)
  • 32-Way Adjustable Damping: Fine-tune the suspension for everything from street driving and practice days to high-speed competitive drifting.
  • Retained Damper Adjustment Knobs: Captive adjustment knobs stay securely attached to the damper, so they stay in place and are always there when you need to make an adjustment.
  • Nitrogen-Filled Gas Dampers: Maintains consistent damping performance and helps resist fade as temperatures and loads increase.
  • SLR Drift-Specific Valving: Developed around the grip, weight transfer, transitions, and control required from a properly set up drift car.
  • Race-Grade Progressive Bump Stops: Every BOSS model uses race-grade bump stops designed to provide controlled additional resistance as the suspension approaches full compression rather than relying on a basic solid bump stop.
  • Engineered Spring Rates: Selected to provide predictable weight transfer, strong mechanical grip, and a balanced chassis without making the car unnecessarily harsh.
  • Complete Adjustment Tools Included: Includes two spanner wrenches and four damper adjustment keys.
  • Fully Rebuildable & Serviceable: Just like our standard Drift Spec coilovers, every BOSS damper is fully rebuildable and can be serviced either directly by SLRspeed or by a qualified local shock shop near you.

Built to Take a Beating

Drift cars live a very different life from normal performance cars.

They get thrown over curbing. They drop wheels into dirt. They transition violently. They hit uneven pavement at angle. They bottom out. They jump. And sometimes they come back onto the track considerably harder than planned.

The BOSS was developed with that reality in mind.

Rather than chasing the lightest or prettiest possible coilover, we focused on making an exceptionally tough Drift Spec system with the strength and construction needed for drivers who routinely push their cars - and their suspension - beyond normal limits.

If your idea of testing a coilover involves a perfectly smooth road, the BOSS is probably overkill.

If your car regularly gets abused, this is the one we built for you.

SLR Suspension Pedigree

SLRspeed has been designing performance suspension components since 2006, earning its reputation through angle kits and steering systems used throughout grassroots and professional drifting.

SLR is also the parent company of VVK, which has specialized in high-performance coilover conversions for Mercedes-Benz platforms since 2015, including the R230 SL, E-Class, C-Class, and S-Class, while SLRspeed has been developing and producing its Drift Spec coilover line since 2024.

That experience in damper design, suspension geometry, vehicle dynamics, and demanding performance applications helped create the foundation for the SLR Drift Spec line.

The BOSS takes that experience and pushes the Drift Spec concept further toward one goal:

Build a coilover that can take serious punishment and keep doing its job.

Designed Around SLR Angle Kits

The E90 Drift Spec BOSS Coilovers are designed to work exceptionally well alongside SLR’s industry-leading angle kits, creating a complete suspension package built around steering angle, mechanical grip, predictable transitions, and chassis control.

Whether you are building a grassroots drift car, a competition chassis, or simply a car that gets driven harder than most suspension was ever intended to tolerate, the BOSS is built for the job.

Built Thick. Built Tough. Built to Drift.

Upgrade your E90 with the new SLR Drift Spec BOSS Coilovers - our ultra-rugged Drift Spec suspension built for dirt drops, jumps, aggressive driving, and serious abuse.

BOSS - because some drift cars need more than a normal coilover.

About this coilover kit for the BMW E90

This SLR Speed kit replaces the factory springs and shocks on the BMW E90 with a height-adjustable coilover at each corner, so you set the ride height instead of living with a fixed drop.

Fitment notes

  • Listed for: BMW E90.
  • Factory adaptive dampers: if your car has electronic or adaptive suspension, check whether the listing covers it or needs a cancellation kit.
  • Specs, lead time and warranty come from SLR Speed and can change. The details above this guide are the latest we have.

Not sure it fits? Send us your year, make, model, trim and drivetrain and we'll check with the supplier before you order.

What else to plan for

  • An alignment. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height first, then align.
  • Camber and toe adjustment. Bigger drops often need adjustable arms or camber plates to align properly. See alignment and camber kits.
  • Wheel and tire clearance. Check clearance at full lock and full compression, especially with wider wheels.

Questions about BMW E90 coilovers

Will this fit my BMW E90?
It is listed for the BMW E90. Check your year, model, drivetrain and chassis code against the product title. If anything is different, contact us and we will confirm fitment with the supplier before you order.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. Changing ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height, let the suspension settle, then get the car aligned.
How low can I go?
It depends on the adjustment range the brand lists, your wheels and tires, and how you use the car. Most cars that are driven hard work best with a modest drop that leaves enough suspension travel.
Where do specs and warranty details come from?
From SLR Speed. We sell parts from several brands and suppliers, and each one sets its own specs, lead times and warranty terms. The product details above are the latest we have.
