Listed for: 2012-2017 Kia Rio (UB)Fitment notes & questions

For a 2012-2017 Kia Rio (UB) that sees track days as well as the commute, the SF Racing Track Coilovers add firmer valving on top of full height and damping adjustment.

2012-2017 Kia Rio setup details

Expect true coilovers at the front and a divorced rear, where the spring and damper sit in separate locations as they do from the factory. Damper bodies are 52mm front and 46mm rear. It comes with 7.2 kg/mm (about 403 lb/in) springs up front and 4 kg/mm (about 224 lb/in) at the rear. Damping is 1-way: a single knob with 32 settings changes rebound and compression together, which keeps tuning quick.

Features

  • Monotube dampers, which shed heat well and hold their damping under hard use
  • 32-level damping adjustment, rebound and compression combined on one adjuster
  • T6-6061 aluminum hardware (top mounts, perches and collars), anodized against corrosion
  • Zinc-plated shock bodies for rust protection
  • Cold-wound SAE9254 spring steel
  • NOK seals and Italian IP damping oil (20W)
  • Built-in dust boots and bump stops
  • Bolt-on install with no modifications, unless the notes below say otherwise
  • Adjustable ride height, roughly 1 to 2.5 inches below factory per SF Racing, while keeping suspension travel
  • Independent lower mount adjustment keeps spring preload and damper travel where they should be when you change height

Who it suits

Ideal if body control and response matter more to you than the softest possible ride.

What else to plan for

  • An alignment. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height first, then align.
  • Camber and toe adjustment. Bigger drops often need adjustable arms or camber plates to align properly. See alignment and camber kits.
  • Wheel and tire clearance. Check clearance at full lock and full compression, especially with wider wheels. Our ride height and wheel fitment calculator shows how much drop and offset change you are planning.
  • The right spring rate. Compare the rates listed here with what our spring rate calculator suggests for your car's weight and use.

Questions about Kia Rio coilovers

Will this fit my Kia Rio?
It is listed for the 2012-2017 Kia Rio (UB). Check your year, model, drivetrain and chassis code against the product title. If anything is different, contact us and we will confirm fitment with the supplier before you order.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. Changing ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height, let the suspension settle, then get the car aligned.
How low can I go?
It depends on the adjustment range the brand lists, your wheels and tires, and how you use the car. Most cars that are driven hard work best with a modest drop that leaves enough suspension travel.
Where do specs and warranty details come from?
From SF Racing. We sell parts from several brands and suppliers, and each one sets its own specs, lead times and warranty terms. The product details above are the latest we have.
