How to choose

Choose a style first. OEM-style hoods keep the factory look and save weight up front. Vented and raised styles such as TS, VS and GTR add heat extraction and a race look, which suits turbo cars and track use.

Check single or double-sided construction. Double-sided hoods have a finished carbon underside, which looks cleaner with the hood open and adds stiffness.

Plan for install. Carbon hoods are lighter and less rigid than steel, so many owners add hood pins for highway and track speeds. Test fit before any paint or clear coat work, and expect small gap adjustments at the hinges and latch.

Front lips are matched to the bumper. Some only fit certain trims, such as F Sport bumpers on the Lexus IS and LS, so check the listing against your car.

Look after the finish. Exposed carbon is clear coated, and regular washing, wax or ceramic coating and covered parking help it hold its gloss.

Price range

Seibon parts here run from about $120 for small pieces like hood props and lips to about $2,000 for the largest hoods, and a typical part costs around $1,260. Since hoods make up most of the range, most parts sit in the upper half.

Seibon FAQ

Is a carbon fiber hood lighter than stock?

Yes, carbon fiber hoods are lighter than steel hoods, which takes weight off the nose.

Do I need hood pins?

Many owners add them for track use or high speeds, since carbon hoods flex more than steel.

Can I paint a Seibon hood?

Yes. Many owners leave the carbon exposed, but it can be painted to match. Test fit first.
