How to choose

Start with the tire you want to run. On 2004 and newer trucks the front is independent with coilover struts, so a 2 to 2.5 inch front raise with a smaller rear block mostly removes the factory rake. That is the job of the MaxTrac Max Pro and MaXpeedingrods leveling kits. Going past roughly 3 inches on an IFS truck steepens CV and tie rod angles, which is why 4 and 6 inch kits use drop brackets or new knuckles rather than just spacers.

Upper A-arms such as the Skyjacker 1-3 inch pair restore ball joint angle and give back camber and caster adjustment after a lift. On 1980-1996 4WD trucks the front uses coil springs, so lift comes from taller coils and matching rear components. Eibach Pro-Kit springs give a mild lift with factory-style ride, while several Pro-Truck spring kits state on the listing that they must be paired with Pro-Truck front shocks.

Should I level or lift my F-150?

Leveling raises the front to match the rear and suits a modest tire upgrade. A full lift raises both ends for larger tires and more clearance, with more parts and a bigger change to driveline angles.

Do I need an alignment after installing a lift?

Yes. Any change in ride height moves toe, camber and caster, so plan an alignment right after the install.
