Who Pedders is
Pedders is an Australian suspension company that has served the Australian aftermarket since 1950 and calls itself Australia's number one suspension specialist. Pedders USA started in 2006 selling to US wholesalers and specialist shops, and the company says it does its research and development in both Australia and the USA. Its US range covers eXtreme XA coilover kits, EziFit kits, shocks and struts, coil springs, sway bars, bushings, brakes and off-road and overlanding parts.
Pedders is best known in the US for GM muscle cars, especially the Pontiac GTO and G8, which share their chassis with Australian Holdens. Its focus list also includes Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, Challenger and Charger, plus Jeep Wrangler, Tacoma and Subaru. Pedders says it builds street suspension for enthusiast drivers, not parts for race cars.

How to choose between Pedders lines
eXtreme XA coilovers vs SportsRyder shocks and springs
The eXtreme XA kit replaces the full spring and damper at each corner. You get adjustable ride height, 1.0 to 3.0 inches lower on the 2002 to 2013 Chevrolet kit, and 30 valving settings to tune the ride. It uses a gas charged monotube damper. Choose it if you want to set your own stance and firmness, or you drive hard on track days.
SportsRyder and GSR shocks keep stock ride height and use a gas charged twin tube design. Pair them with Pedders lowering springs for a fixed, modest drop, or run them alone to restore control on a worn car. This route costs much less. A full set of four shocks costs about $600 to $850, against $1,267.99 and up for coilovers.
Lowering springs
Our Pedders lowering springs drop 0.75 to 1.57 inches, depending on the car. Several are sold one each, so check whether you need two or four. The SportsRyder lowering spring set 804019 comes as a set of four for $422.99, with up to 0.98 inch front and 0.59 inch rear drop.
TrakRyder for off-road
TrakRyder foam cell shocks are Pedders' off-road damper. The foam cell design is meant to resist fade on rough, repeated hits. The one we list fits 2008 to 2018 Jeep models.
What else you'll need
- New strut mounts when you replace worn struts. Old mounts cause clunks and noise.
- Adjustable sway bar end links on lowered cars to keep the bar level.
- An alignment after any height change.
Install notes
- Coilover kits come complete and need no welding.
- Set ride height first, let the car settle, then set damping and get an alignment. Our coilover adjustment guide walks through it.
- The 2002 to 2013 Chevrolet eXtreme XA kit does not fit cars with magnetic ride control. Check your options first.
- Replace shocks in pairs on the same axle.
Pedders vs other brands we carry
BMR Suspension is the other big name for GM muscle cars. It is stronger on control arms, bars and chassis parts, while Pedders is stronger on complete shock and coilover packages. Whiteline, another Australian brand, covers sway bars and bushings for many of the same cars. Many owners mix them, for example Pedders dampers with BMR or Whiteline arms and bars.
Costs
A Pedders shock or strut costs $150.99 to $210.99 each on our store. Lowering springs cost $143.99 to $149.99 each, or $422.99 for a set of four. An eXtreme XA coilover kit costs $1,267.99 to $1,743.99. Warranty terms are set by each brand.
