Who ST Suspensions is

ST Suspensions is a performance suspension brand made by KW automotive GmbH, the German company behind KW coilovers. ST's own site says all ST products are made in KW quality. The range covers height-adjustable coilovers (ST X, XA, XTA and XTA Plus 3), adjustable lowering springs, sport springs, complete sport suspension sets, anti-sway bar kits, and AZX bolt-on and DZX bolt-thru wheel spacers.

ST is best known as the value line from the KW family. You get German-built coilovers and springs at a lower price than KW's own kits, with fewer adjustments.

ST lines we carry

We list 39 ST parts. The biggest groups are sway bars and wheel spacers, with a smaller set of coilovers and springs.

  • Honda and Acura 1992 to 2001 (rear bar) and a Honda XA coilover kit, see Honda suspension

  • Ford and Mercury 1993 to 2004 (rear bar and a sport suspension kit), see Ford suspension

How to choose between ST lines

ST X vs XA vs XTA coilovers

All three have stepless ride height adjustment on galvanized steel housings. ST X has fixed damping. XA adds 16-way adjustable rebound damping, so you can firm up or soften the ride. XTA keeps the 16-click rebound adjustment and adds adjustable aluminum top mounts for front camber. The XTA Plus 3 sits above them with compression adjustment as well. For a street car that you want lower and a bit firmer, XA is the usual pick. Choose XTA if you need camber adjustment after lowering, or if you plan track days.

Adjustable lowering springs vs coilovers

ST's adjustable lowering springs keep your factory dampers but add threaded collars, so you can set the drop. ST says they work on cars with or without electronic dampers. The kit we list lowers 0.6 to 1.2 inches in front and 0.2 to 1.2 inches in the rear. Choose them if your car has adaptive dampers you want to keep. Choose a coilover if you want more drop or damping adjustment.

Sport springs

Sport springs are the cheapest way to lower an ST supported car. The sets we list drop about 0.8 to 1 inch and work with healthy factory shocks. Our lowering springs page has other brands if ST doesn't cover your car.

AZX vs DZX wheel spacers

AZX spacers bolt onto the hub, and the wheel then bolts to the spacer. DZX spacers are bolt-thru, so longer wheel bolts or studs pass through the spacer into the hub. On our store the AZX pairs run 20mm to 35mm thick and the DZX pairs 17.5mm to 25mm. Either way, match the bolt pattern and center bore on the listing (for example 56.1mm, 60.1mm, 65.1mm or 71.6mm). Our wheel offset calculator shows where the wheel ends up.

Install notes

  • Coilovers and springs bolt in with no welding, but a spring compressor is needed on strut cars that keep factory dampers.
  • Set ride height, let the car settle, then align. Lowering changes camber and toe.
  • Sway bars come with mounting hardware. On lowered cars, check end link angle.
  • Torque spacer and wheel bolts to spec and recheck after the first drive.

ST vs other brands we carry

KW is ST's parent brand. KW kits add more damping adjustment and a broader range, at a higher price, but our KW listings are few. Eibach is the main alternative for springs and sway bars. It covers many of the same cars, and prices for bars and springs are close to ST's. If you want more choices at lower prices, see our coilovers page.

Costs

On our store an ST sport spring set costs $337.99 to $492.99, a sway bar $409.99 to $564.99 and a front and rear bar set $671.99 to $791.99. ST coilovers cost $1,315.99 to $1,983.99. Budget for an alignment after any height change. Warranty terms are set by each brand.

ST Suspensions FAQ

Who makes ST Suspensions?
ST Suspensions is made by KW automotive GmbH, the German company behind KW coilovers. ST is the lower priced line in the KW family.
What is the difference between ST XA and XTA coilovers?
Both have height adjustment and 16-way adjustable rebound damping. XTA adds adjustable aluminum top mounts for front camber, which helps lowered cars and track use.
Are ST coilovers good for daily driving?
Yes. ST X and XA are aimed at street cars that need a lower, firmer stance, and XA lets you soften the rebound damping for comfort.
What are ST adjustable lowering springs?
They are springs on threaded perches that keep your factory dampers, so you can set the drop. ST says they work on cars with or without electronic dampers.
What is the difference between ST AZX and DZX wheel spacers?
AZX spacers bolt to the hub and the wheel bolts to the spacer. DZX spacers are bolt-thru, so longer wheel bolts or studs pass through them.
Do I need an alignment after installing ST springs or coilovers?
Yes. Any change in ride height moves camber and toe, so align once the car has settled at its final height.
