The Ram 1500 in one view

Ram 1500 parts are split by generation, then by 2WD or 4WD, then by trim. The fifth-generation DT is the newest truck, but Ram also sold the older body as the Ram 1500 Classic from 2019 to 2024, and Classic trucks take fourth-generation parts. Counts below group our listings by the first model year in each title.

Level, lift, lower or tow: the four Ram 1500 setups

Leveling kits

A leveling kit raises the front to match the rear and clears slightly bigger tires. On the DT, the Rough Country 2 inch leveling kit is $349.95, and Rough Country lists a separate $29.95 kit for 2019 to 2023 trucks with air suspension. For DS trucks, Belltech front leveling struts are $149, Belltech strut spacers are $239 and Body Armor 2.5 in spacers are $121. TRX and RHO owners have a Rough Country 1.5 inch kit at $249.95.

Lift kits

Lift kits raise both ends and change more geometry. Our Ram 1500 lifts run from Eibach Pro-Truck springs ($275 per end) and Rough Country 3 to 3.5 in kits ($549.95 to $1,289.95, depending on struts) up to Belltech 6 to 9 in kits ($2,595 to $4,137). Eibach Pro-Truck coilover systems cost $995 to $1,799, the Carli 2.5 in coilover set is $2,227.88, and Bilstein B8 8112 ZoneControl front kits are $1,389.70 to $1,464 per side for 0.6 to 2.6 in of lift. Read our Ram 1500 lift kits guide before you choose a height.

Lowering kits

Belltech dominates here. Lowering kits for 2009 to 2022 trucks cost $645 to $1,001 depending on shocks, Belltech coilover kits for the DT run $912 to $1,995, and older trucks get coil springs ($257 to $287), drop spindles ($585) and shackle and hanger kits ($102 to $357). Big rear drops can need a C-notch; see what is a C-notch.

Towing and load support

Air Lift helper springs keep a loaded truck level. Air Lift 1000 kits start at $179.99, Loadlifter 5000 kits run $603.59 to $620.39, and Ultimate kits cost $655.86 to $772.79. Combo kits with a load controller are $535.20. Carli HD rear springs add constant load support for $543.24 to $568.38.

What else a lifted or lowered Ram 1500 needs

Known Ram 1500 quirks

  • Air suspension. DT trucks with factory air need air-specific parts. Rough Country sells a separate air suspension leveling kit, and Body Armor spacers exclude Rebel and air ride models.
  • DT or Classic. Many Belltech DT parts say "exc. Classic" or "Non-Classic". Classic trucks use DS parts, such as the Whiteline KTA322 arms and the Air Lift Classic combo kit.
  • Rebel, TRX and RHO. These trims have their own kits from Eibach, Air Lift and Rough Country. The Eibach TRX springs ($798) give 2.7 in front and 1.5 in rear.
  • 2WD or 4WD and cab size. Belltech lowering kits are often split by cab, and Eibach lists separate 2WD and 4WD springs. Some Eibach springs must be used with Pro-Truck shocks, as the title says.
  • Third generation front ends. 2002 to 2005 4WD trucks level with torsion bar keys ($111.99 to $143), while 2006 to 2008 trucks use struts.

Install and alignment notes

Leveling spacers and torsion keys are a half-day driveway job with a jack, stands and hand tools. Strut-type kits need a spring compressor or preassembled struts, so many owners use a shop. Lift kits over 4 in and drop spindles change steering and driveline geometry and are best left to a shop. Air springs mostly bolt on, but plan the air line routing. Always get an alignment after any height change. Check tire sizes with the tire size calculator.

Ram 1500 Suspension Parts FAQ

What is the best suspension upgrade for a Ram 1500?
It depends on the job. A leveling kit ($29.95 to $462 on our store) fixes the factory rake, a lift kit ($549.95 to $4,137) clears bigger tires, a Belltech lowering kit ($645 to $1,995) suits street trucks, and Air Lift helper springs ($179.99 to $772.79) help with towing.
Do 2019 and newer Ram 1500 parts fit the Ram 1500 Classic?
Usually not. The Classic uses the older fourth-generation body and chassis, so it takes 2009 to 2018 parts. Many DT listings say "Non-Classic" or "exc. Classic" in the title.
Can I level a Ram 1500 with air suspension?
Yes, but you need an air-specific kit. Rough Country lists a 2 inch leveling kit for 2019 to 2023 trucks with air suspension at $29.95, and many spacer kits exclude air ride models.
How much lift does a Ram 1500 leveling kit give?
Most leveling kits we list give 2 to 2.5 in at the front. The Rough Country TRX and RHO kit is 1.5 in.
Do I need upper control arms after leveling a Ram 1500?
Not always, but they help you get camber and caster back in spec after 2 in or more of lift. Whiteline arms are $571.20 and Carli arms are $1,238.76.
Do I need an alignment after leveling or lowering?
Yes. Any ride height change moves camber and toe, so get an alignment right after the install.
Can I tow with a lifted Ram 1500?
Yes, and Air Lift helper springs help keep a lifted truck level under load. Check each kit's notes for lift compatibility.
