Listed for: 1988-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier (Z24)Fitment notes & questions

Built for daily-driven cars, this SF Racing Sport kit replaces the factory struts and springs on the 1988-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier (Z24) with height-adjustable coilovers and single-knob damping adjustment. This version is listed for FWD models.

How this kit is set up for the 1988-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier

Both ends use a true coilover layout, with the spring sitting on the damper body at every corner. Damper bodies are 52mm front and 46mm rear. It comes with 7.3 kg/mm (about 409 lb/in) springs up front and 3 kg/mm (about 168 lb/in) at the rear. Damping is 1-way: a single knob with 32 settings changes rebound and compression together, which keeps tuning quick. The front top mounts are aluminum with rubber bushings.

Key features

  • Monotube dampers, which shed heat well and hold their damping under hard use
  • 32-level damping adjustment, rebound and compression combined on one adjuster
  • Bolt-on install with no modifications, unless the notes below say otherwise
  • Adjustable ride height, roughly 1 to 2.5 inches below factory per SF Racing, while keeping suspension travel
  • Separate lower-mount (length) adjustment, so height changes don't preload the spring
  • T6-6061 aluminum hardware (top mounts, perches and collars), anodized against corrosion
  • Zinc-plated shock bodies for rust protection
  • SAE9254 cold-wound springs
  • NOK seals and Italian IP damping oil
  • Built-in dust boots and bump stops

Who it suits

Ideal for street cars that need a sensible drop and some tuning range, without going to track-level stiffness.

About this coilover kit for the Chevrolet Cavalier

This SF Racing kit replaces the factory springs and shocks on the 1988-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier with a height-adjustable coilover at each corner, so you set the ride height instead of living with a fixed drop.

Fitment notes

  • Listed for: 1988-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier (Z24).
  • Model years: 1988-1994. Check your car's year falls inside this range.
  • Chassis code Z24: the same model name is often used across several chassis codes, so match the code, not just the name.
  • Factory adaptive dampers: if your car has electronic or adaptive suspension, check whether the listing covers it or needs a cancellation kit.
  • Specs, lead time and warranty come from SF Racing and can change. The details above this guide are the latest we have.

Not sure it fits? Send us your year, make, model, trim and drivetrain and we'll check with the supplier before you order.

What else to plan for

  • An alignment. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height first, then align.
  • Camber and toe adjustment. Bigger drops often need adjustable arms or camber plates to align properly. See alignment and camber kits.
  • Wheel and tire clearance. Check clearance at full lock and full compression, especially with wider wheels.

Questions about Chevrolet Cavalier coilovers

Will this fit my Chevrolet Cavalier?
It is listed for the 1988-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier (Z24). Check your year, model, drivetrain and chassis code against the product title. If anything is different, contact us and we will confirm fitment with the supplier before you order.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. Changing ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height, let the suspension settle, then get the car aligned.
How low can I go?
It depends on the adjustment range the brand lists, your wheels and tires, and how you use the car. Most cars that are driven hard work best with a modest drop that leaves enough suspension travel.
Where do specs and warranty details come from?
From SF Racing. We sell parts from several brands and suppliers, and each one sets its own specs, lead times and warranty terms. The product details above are the latest we have.
