Listed for: 1985-1990 Pontiac Fiero GTFitment notes & questions

SF Racing's Sport Coilovers for the 1985-1990 Pontiac Fiero GT are a street-focused kit: they lower the car, let you set the exact ride height and give you damping adjustment while keeping a ride that works every day. This version is listed for RWD models.

How this kit is set up for the 1985-1990 Pontiac Fiero GT

Damper bodies are 46mm front and 52mm rear. It comes with 5 kg/mm (about 280 lb/in) springs up front and 7 kg/mm (about 392 lb/in) at the rear. Damping is 1-way: a single knob with 32 settings changes rebound and compression together, which keeps tuning quick. At the rear, the mounts are aluminum with rubber bushing.

Features

  • Monotube dampers, which shed heat well and hold their damping under hard use
  • 32 damping settings on a single knob that sets rebound and compression together
  • Anodized T6-6061 aluminum top mounts, spring perches and collars for corrosion resistance
  • Zinc-plated shock bodies for rust protection
  • Cold-wound SAE9254 spring steel
  • NOK seals and Italian IP damping oil
  • Built-in dust boots and bump stops
  • Bolt-on install with no modifications, unless the notes below say otherwise
  • Adjustable ride height, roughly 1 to 2.5 inches below factory per SF Racing, while keeping suspension travel
  • Separate lower-mount (length) adjustment, so height changes don't preload the spring

Important: Modification required to install rear.

Who it suits

Best suited to daily drivers and weekend canyon cars where ride comfort still matters.

Before you order: Pontiac Fiero GT fitment and setup

Coilovers combine the spring and damper in one adjustable unit. That lets you choose your ride height on the Pontiac Fiero GT and, on kits with damping adjustment, tune how firm it feels.

Fitment notes

  • Listed for: 1985-1990 Pontiac Fiero GT.
  • Model years: 1985-1990. Check your car's year falls inside this range.
  • Factory adaptive dampers: if your car has electronic or adaptive suspension, check whether the listing covers it or needs a cancellation kit.
  • Specs, lead time and warranty come from SF Racing and can change. The details above this guide are the latest we have.

Plan the whole job

  • An alignment. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height first, then align.
  • Camber and toe adjustment. Bigger drops often need adjustable arms or camber plates to align properly. See alignment and camber kits.
  • Wheel and tire clearance. Check clearance at full lock and full compression, especially with wider wheels.

Questions about Pontiac Fiero GT coilovers

Will this fit my Pontiac Fiero GT?
It is listed for the 1985-1990 Pontiac Fiero GT. Check your year, model, drivetrain and chassis code against the product title. If anything is different, contact us and we will confirm fitment with the supplier before you order.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. Changing ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height, let the suspension settle, then get the car aligned.
How low can I go?
It depends on the adjustment range the brand lists, your wheels and tires, and how you use the car. Most cars that are driven hard work best with a modest drop that leaves enough suspension travel.
Where do specs and warranty details come from?
From SF Racing. We sell parts from several brands and suppliers, and each one sets its own specs, lead times and warranty terms. The product details above are the latest we have.
