Listed for: 1998-2006 Audi TT FWD (8N)FWDFitment notes & questions

The N2 is the top of SF Racing's coilover range: external-reservoir dampers with separate rebound and compression adjustment, here built for the 1998-2006 Audi TT (8N). This version is listed for FWD models.

What you get

Up front it is a true coilover; the rear keeps a divorced layout, with the spring and shock mounted separately like the factory setup. Damper bodies are 52mm front and 46mm rear. It comes with 7 kg/mm (about 392 lb/in) springs up front and 5 kg/mm (about 280 lb/in) at the rear. Rebound and compression are adjusted separately (2-way), so you can tune how the car settles over bumps independently from how it reacts to them.

Features

  • External-reservoir dampers for more oil capacity and consistent damping under hard use
  • 2-way damping: rebound and compression adjust separately
  • T6-6061 aluminum hardware (top mounts, perches and collars), anodized against corrosion
  • Zinc-plated shock bodies for rust protection
  • Bolt-on install with no modifications, unless the notes below say otherwise
  • Adjustable ride height, roughly 1 to 2.5 inches below factory per SF Racing, while keeping suspension travel
  • Independent lower mount adjustment keeps spring preload and damper travel where they should be when you change height

Who it suits

A good fit for experienced drivers who want to tune rebound and compression separately.

Before you order: Audi TT fitment and setup

This SF Racing kit replaces the factory springs and shocks on the 1998-2006 Audi TT FWD with a height-adjustable coilover at each corner, so you set the ride height instead of living with a fixed drop.

Fitment notes

  • Listed for: 1998-2006 Audi TT FWD (8N).
  • Model years: 1998-2006. Check your car's year falls inside this range.
  • Chassis code 8N: parts for other chassis codes of the same model usually won't fit.
  • Drivetrain: FWD. FWD and AWD versions of the same car often take different parts.
  • Factory adaptive dampers: if your car has electronic or adaptive suspension, check whether the listing covers it or needs a cancellation kit.
  • Specs, lead time and warranty come from SF Racing and can change. The details above this guide are the latest we have.

Not sure it fits? Send us your year, make, model, trim and drivetrain and we'll check with the supplier before you order.

Ask about fitment

Plan the whole job

  • An alignment. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height first, then align.
  • Camber and toe adjustment. Bigger drops often need adjustable arms or camber plates to align properly. See alignment and camber kits.
  • Wheel and tire clearance. Check clearance at full lock and full compression, especially with wider wheels. Our ride height and wheel fitment calculator shows how much drop and offset change you are planning.
  • The right spring rate. Compare the rates listed here with what our spring rate calculator suggests for your car's weight and use.

Questions about Audi TT coilovers

Will this fit my Audi TT?
It is listed for the 1998-2006 Audi TT FWD (8N). Check your year, model, drivetrain and chassis code against the product title. If anything is different, contact us and we will confirm fitment with the supplier before you order.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. Changing ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height, let the suspension settle, then get the car aligned.
How low can I go?
It depends on the adjustment range the brand lists, your wheels and tires, and how you use the car. Most cars that are driven hard work best with a modest drop that leaves enough suspension travel.
Where do specs and warranty details come from?
From SF Racing. We sell parts from several brands and suppliers, and each one sets its own specs, lead times and warranty terms. The product details above are the latest we have.
