On an XJ that has seen years of trail use, the original bar bushings are often worn oval, so the bar rattles and body roll creeps back in. Fresh mounts let the bar do its job from the first degree of lean. It suits Cherokee owners running a stock or lifted Jeep on the street or the trail.

This is one of the simplest handling refreshes you can do, and it makes the most difference on cars that already run lowered springs or a thicker bar. It is worth checking the end links at the same time, since play there undoes much of the benefit. A sway bar is a torsion spring that links the left and right wheels, and it resists body roll by twisting against its mounts as the car leans. If the sway bar bushings are worn, the bar can rotate or slide in its mounts before it starts working, so the first part of every corner feels soft.

Key features

SuperPro part number SPF1138-16K

Sized for a 16mm sway bar

Fitment

1984-1994 Jeep Cherokee Base

1985-1990 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer; 1985-1988 Chief

1985-1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo

1987-2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited

1989-2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

1991-1992 Jeep Cherokee Briarwood

1993-1997 Jeep Cherokee Country

1994-2001 Jeep Cherokee SE

1996-2001 Jeep Cherokee Classic

Check your year, trim and drivetrain against the list above before ordering.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0964/8295/1469/files/ed00206263bc446e451abff62f515809_0ef52844-c0b8-4726-8e4b-96043da88975.jpg?v=1793835524
